Briefing "2010 Elections: càndidates point of view"

30.12.2009

În December 28, 2009 in hotel “Kiev” the briefing 2010 Elections: càndidates point of view” took place. The briefing was held for the authorized representatives of the presidential candidates registered by the Central Election Commission (CEC) and organized by the public organization the “Civil network “Opora” for international observers on presidential elections in Ukraine and the press.

At the briefing the authorized representatives of the following presidential candidates were present: Tigipko, Tyagnibok, Yushchenko, Yacenyuk, official speakers of Timoshenko and Yanukovych, as well as Oleksander Pabat.

During the briefing all representatives of presidential candidates noted the general tendencies of electoral process violation, violations of the Central Election Committee’s activity, as well as in regional election commissions.

Oleksandra Pavlenko, attorney-at-law, partner with Pavlenko and Poberezhnyuk, Law group, authorized representative of Sergey Tigipko in Central Elections Commission and his authorized person noted that “A number of disputes with CEC of Ukraine initiated by different presidential candidates, including Sergey Tigipko are currently in progress. Rough system offences by the CEC take a place in relation to a proportion and equality of all of presidential candidates in the course of hustings at the process of formation the territorial election committees and their heads. Thus, on Decembers, 22, 2009 the Supreme administrative court of Ukraine established the Central Election Commission’s inactivity and obliged it at the upcoming meeting to consider and confirm a decision in relation to Tigipko’s claim to replace his candidacy for a position of the head of district election commission of the territorial election district 127, which was submitted as early as on December 8. However the CEC of Ukraine continues to find illegal ways to refuse Mr. Tigipko. In this connection the disputes related to this conflict proceed. System offences are being observed in all Ukrainian regions from the side of district territorial election committees on issues which belong to their jurisdiction. Agitation materials became more frequent, so-called black PR, directed against a number of Ukrainian presidential candidates. We report to the CEC of Ukraine about all illegal actions directed against presidential candidate Sergey Tigipko. The dispute with TNS-Ukraine in relation to the published rankings proceeds”.
