Pavlenko & Poberezhnyuk, law group advises Holtec Intenational in the project on storage engineering on Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant

Pavlenko & Poberezhnyuk, Law group announced about providing legal support to the American Holtec International in taxation of its activity on the territory of Ukraine. Holtec International implements engineering and construction of “Second spent fuel storage” on Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant. As the project has a special meaning for Ukraine and enables budget financing, the company is interested in absolute correspondence with the legislation of Ukraine, especially the regulations of tax law.

Pavlenko & Poberezhnyuk, Law group worked out a taxation optimization system for Holtec International. On behalf of Pavlenko & Poberezhnyuk, Law group the project is being led by Larysa Poberezhnyuk, partner and Dmytro Sushko, auditor, head of tax consulting department.

In December 2007 the State Special Enterprise “Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant” signed a contract with Holtec international (USA) for completing construction of the Second spent fuel storage, needed for unequipping power units of Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant. The contract sum is USD 200 million, realization period – 52 months. The project on spent fuel storage engineering should be completed by the end of 2010. On February 16, 2009 the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development signed a contract with Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant on granting EUR 135 million for realization of containment construction program and spent fuel storage construction at Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant.
